The Real
Mom Club
is a satirical adventure into the world of
motherhood, specifically my role as a forty-year-old mother to three small daughters. At
first, I was sucked into the fairy tale, sugary, positive reinforcement, self esteem
building concepts for raising normal kids or children. The operative word here is normal.
My offspring, who I affectionately refer to as spawnlings, I believe are deviant genetic
life forms sent here from a yet unknown universe to play with my little world.
As a form of parental therapy, or coping with
kids, I began to share my parenting experiences or tales of child rearing with the world
through stories and cartoons about kids. All moms have a story about kids to share and the
Real Mom Club offers an open and accepting forum to moms who are in the maternal trenches.
Real Dads are also encouraged to join in the Real Mom family, perhaps sketch a cartoon,
and share their paternal sagas of whimsy and woe.
